Tabret: An Instrument of “Pray-se”
A Tabret is an instrument to wave before the Lord as we pray and praise. The sound of the streamers as they swish through the air is a reminder of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit). The “point of contact” of these instruments helps us to focus our thoughts on our prayers. I have adopted my mother’s phrase of “Prayer-Minders” to describe the Tabrets because they are “Prayer Reminders!” For a more formal, sourced definition, tap here.
“Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.” [Jer 31:4 KJV]
